You may have already noticed that the “singing training industry” is broken.
The weekly lesson model is a 20th century construct created by academia who needed to qualify to give degrees, not build careers. Then private teachers adopted the weekly lesson model to earn a living.
In earlier times, the weekly lesson was for dilettants; wealthy families who wanted their children to become educated and cultured so they could marry well. Serious musicians and singers took intensive training.
Since the early 20th Century, the music industry in both classical and contemporary music also coaches and trains singers in total immersion. Imagine preparing for your Met debut or a concert at Madison Square Garden with a weekly lesson!
Why is intensive training a powerful training model? Because singing is an art and a motor skill. Motor skill training requires immersive training and feedback – especially for singers because you use your voice every single day and that impacts your singing.
I created the Singer Intensive Mentorship program because I know i solved my vocal issues, develop my technique and skill by taking immersive training, both when I was just starting out in Boston, when I was training in Vienna, Austria, and later when I was preparing to become a voice teacher. I had voice lessons everyday for weeks at a time!
